Meet The Trainer - Lisa Tonks
Lisa has been training dogs for over 25 year and 15 years training professionally. She has worked with thousands of dogs in this time and has built a successful business, recommended by clients, vets and other dog professionals.
Lisa is passionate and committed to try and make a difference to the way we train our dogs. To give either a young puppy the best possible start in life or an older dog with a problem a stress free alternative to an unwanted behaviour.
There is no reason why any aged dog can’t be trained by using Kind Reward Based Methods.
Lisa holds accredited course certification in Think Dog Certificate, Think Dog Practical, Think Dog Training for the Future (Puppy Instructor), and Clicker Training. These courses are NOCN Certified and run by Alpha Education. Lisa has also gained a Distinction grade with COAPE – Animal Behaviour.
Lisa’s continuous studying means she is able to offer the most modern, science based training available.
Lisa is currently studying Tellington Touch to become a Practitioner and have achieved Practitioner in Training status. This is an amazing and very different approach into working with dogs and one she is finding rewarding with outstanding results in changing behaviours.
In 2020 Lisa qualified as a WSDA (World Scent Dog Association) Instructor and Level 1 Judge. Scent work is a great way to boost your dogs confidence, channel arousal, mentally stimulate and build a strong bond with your dog.
As well as the continued studies, Lisa attends many workshops and seminars on things such as:
- Tellington Touch
- Training Problem Solving (lead pulling, chasing, anxiety, chewing)

Lisa is currently studying Tellington Touch to become a Practitioner and has achieved Practitioner in Training status.
Lisa is currently working with KAD to help children and adults with cynophobia (fear of dogs). As a qualified member Lisa aims to make a positive and life changing impact for these people.
After attending a few different local classes I had felt totally humiliated by my dogs bad behaviour. However Lisa has taken the time to reassure me that my being on edge was increasing my dog Penny’s anxiety level, making it harder for her to stay calm. We have made great progress with the training since Lisa’s visits and will be trying another class in the near future.
